M45, the Pleiades, with the Canon Digital Rebel XTi (400D)

Here is our shot of M45, the Pleiades, with the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. The telescope used was our Orion 80ED APO refractor on a Meade LXD55 mount. The image has been drastically reduced from its original 10-megapixel size for display on this web page. Some vignetting is visible on the right side of the cropped and reduced image below as we did not use a flat field (oops!). We were quite happy that some nebulosity showed up. Unlike most of our other images, this image is not a stack. Rather, it is a single, 15-minute manually guided exposure and thus the background noise level is higher due to the lack of stacked images
